Swimming S’s

The first week of June was the beginning of the summer we love in AZ. Swim lessons are our favorite! We get to spend 4 days a week for 8 weeks at the pool where the heat is not only bearable but enjoyable. Both of the kids are doing great in their lessons this year. Soren is in level one and loves learning the basics. He can now swim by himself for a short distance (10 feet or so) but his new goggles have helped him learn to be comfortable under the water. He’ll spend all of his playtime in open swim practicing holding his breath and looking under water. IMG_2770

Svea is a real waterbaby. She LOVES the water and is doing amazing in her parent/child class. She can hold her breath and swim to the wall or another adult almost effortlessly. She also loves retrieving things from the bottom of the pool (3.5 ft deep). I have to give her a push to get her down to the bottom, but then she grabs the object, pulls her feet under her and pushes up to the surface by herself. She’s a lot of fun to watch but also a little stressful to swim with. She just started kicking off the wall to swim to me and I have to watch her EVERY second in the water.

I am finally feeling better but the kids have really helped me out the last few weeks. Soren gets up much earlier than I like to in the morning and he never needs me for anything. He gets a snack if necessary, changes out of his jammies and finds a show or game to entertain himself (turning the volume all the way down so he won’t disturb Mom or Sister who are still sleeping). The other day I found him like this:

Muted Nihao Kailan on the TV and a quiet game of solitaire dominos. The time says 9:15 am. This kid is golden.
