Fridays

We LOVE Fridays.  Erik works 4-10 weeks, so every Friday is our family day.  We usually go out for lunch and a fun activity.  This semester we are also working Erik’s class into Friday afternoons, but we are glad to do it as this is his LAST class before his December graduation.  We’re able to visit different parks around the valley (weather permitting) and do our fun errands like shopping around for a new tent.

Bass Pro Shop:

We made it for trout feeding time.  Soren said the food “smelled like a telephone” but he liked watching the big trout come up to the surface and grab the food.  Svea thought the fish were the coolest thing she had ever seen and happily squealed “Dih Dee! Dih Dee” for fishie.  I had to hold on to her to keep her from jumping in the water.

Soren has grown taller and is also working on a few new milestones.  Potty training has been quite the challenge and we are still struggling. There has been some great progress though, and he can’t wait to claim the many prizes that have been offered once he has mastered this important skill.  His speech improved greatly after our trip to Utah.  It seems to help him learn more when he has conversations with people other than me and Erik and he has been using some new phrases and words.  I was very interested to hear him tell me yesterday that he was going to shoot the fridge with a shotgun.  When I asked him where he learned the word “shotgun” he told me he learned it “from those cousins in Utah”.  Hilarious!

Svea’s also growing up so fast!  She has really mastered walking this week and has changed from a wobbler to a confident runner.  Her hair is still too short to do anything with but long enough to do the crazy bed head thing.  She has a few words she uses regularly.  “No… No!!!” is the most common, but she also says “Did dee” for kitty, “Ma ma” and “Da da”.  She also says “Na na” for night-night and waves her hand goodbye while walking down the hall to her room when she is tired.

We’re busy but happy and I can’t wait for our next Friday out!
